Smallness,
"Don't be afraid of smallness; smallness is the soil of possibility. The humblest of actions, when done for God, reveal his nearness, and the ordinary duties of life become a form of communion." -George Macdonald
I recently came across this quote. I don't have some deep insight to share that it doesn't already convey. But I encourage you to read it through a few times and consider how it might connect with you today.
| Our Second Group to be Confirmed! |
Here are a few "small things" I've noticed over the last month.
- A seasoned mom giving a tearful new mom a hug and some welcomed words of encouragement before church.
- A brother texting a few of us admitting a struggle and asking for prayer.
- A team of folks taking responsibility for a recent Sunday when Beth and I had to call out sick.
- A young adult beginning to tithe regularly.
- Folks coming back to church who haven't been around in a while.
- Some children giving me their coloring pages (aka... "works of art") they created during the service.
- Unhurried time to hang with some of our young adults after church.
- Talking with folks who are excited and grateful for our little church plant.
- Sensing the Lord's presence in the Eucharist each week.
Prayer
- Pray for all who were confirmed as they walk with Jesus and join Shalom!
- Pray for our Table Groups as they seek to meet monthly for dinner, fellowship, and prayer.
- Pray for Beth and I as we settle into our new house and land. We recently moved to three acres where we have a vision to do some farming, community connection, and contemplative space to seek God.
- Pray for a newer couple at Shalom as they process recent news of a devastating health diagnosis. Pray for healing!
For the Shalom of Kitsap,
Fr. Rob
